What is Teletherapy?
Teletherapy is the online delivery of mental health therapy services via HIPPA compliant high-resolution, live video conferencing.  Teletherapy sessions are very similar to mental health sessions with one major exception. Instead of sitting in the same room, clients and therapists interact via live video.

During therapy sessions, the client and therapist can see, hear, and interact with one another in real time, using webcams, headsets, and a live, synchronous online environment.

If you’ve ever used Skype on your computer or FaceTime on your iPhone, you’ve used a similar type of technology.

The actual therapy is the same as the therapist would deliver face-to-face, only psychotherapy is done via computer, tablet or smart phone.  I will still be using traditional evidence-based psychotherapy techniques and activities and deliver high-quality personalized service.

Telehealth & Insurance Company Policies

It appears, at this time (March/April 2020), insurance plans are moving to covering telehealth without any barriers, even if not initially a plan benefit. However, I do encourage you to reach out to your specific plan and ask the following questions:
1.    Based on recent developments regarding COVID-19, will telehealth be a covered service for outpatient mental health visits? (If they ask for a CPT code, you can tell them 90837)
2.   Do I have a separate deductible for telehealth visits?
3.    Do I have a different copay applicable to telehealth visits?
While I am hoping this can be a smooth transition insurance wise to telehealth, I do ask that you call to inquire about the above to confirm telehealth coverage as I cannot guarantee coverage and any amount not covered will be your responsibility. However, as many of you have gotten to know me, I am more than happy to problem solve with you any coverage concerns or issues.
